East Brunswick Real Estate
About East Brunswick
On the southern shores of the Raritan River, East Brunswick real estate is home to 47,512 people. East Brunswick is considered a suburb of New York City as well as Center City, Pennsylvania. This township was incorporated in 1860 from sections of Monroe Township and North Brunswick Township. Although East Brunswick real estate was primarily farming country prior to the 1930s, the improvement of the roads within the township helped to spur the construction of large scale housing and East Brunswick became more of a suburban community.
Particularly beneficial was the extension of the New Jersey Turnpike in 1952 into East Brunswick. The area is highly accessible with many major routes that provide access to numerous areas. Route 18 connects East Brunswick to the Jersey Shore. In addition, there are roadways that pass just outside the township, connecting it with other areas. The Newark Liberty International Airport is only 22 miles from East Brunswick. John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queen is 33.7 miles from the township. Choosing East Brunswick homes also provides residents with access to the New Jersey Transit bus service, which routes to Midtown Manhattan.
Many residents of East Brunswick commute to jobs in other cities. Driving to Manhattan is approximately a 30-40 minute trip and Suburban Transit provides service to New York City every 10-15 minutes. The transit takes from 30-50 minutes and depends on the traffic – as does driving. Living in a small town and enjoying the amenities of nearby big cities is often one of the reasons for choosing East Brunswick homes for sale.
Residents of East Brunswick are served by East Brunswick Public Schools. There are eight elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. The schools in this district are constantly recognized by New Jersey for being one of their most successful school districts. Many of the homes in East Brunswick are new construction. The growth in the area has contributed to this factor. In addition, there are many single family homes, town houses and condominiums that were built from 1940 to 1969 and 1970 to 1994. A few historic homes built prior to 1939 are in existence.
