South Brunswick Real Estate
About South Brunswick
Within Middlesex County, New Jersey, choosing South Brunswick real estate allows residents to be a part of a township with a rich history. The community was originally incorporated in 1798 as one of the first 104 townships of New Jersey. Sections of South Brunswick were taken to form the townships of Cranbury in 1872 and Plainsboro in 1919. The Straight Turnpike, which is U.S. Route 1, was built in 1804. Although there are more than 43,000 residents in this township, South Brunswick real estate still includes many areas of open space, woodlands and wetlands.
One of the many attractive features of South Brunswick is the accessibility. U.S. Routes 1, 27, 32 and 130 as well as I-95 and county routes provide access to other areas. Nearby the intersection of Route 32 and 130, commuters may use the ‘park and ride’ to take buses to Midtown Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Residents of South Brunswick real estate are served by South Brunswick Public Schools. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. Private schools are available as well.
South Brunswick has experienced major transformation over the years. the New Brunswick and Trenton Fast Line began operating in 1900. The New Jersey Turnpike opened in 1951 and a benefit for the township was the rapid increase in industrial development. This impacted the agricultural area at the southeast corner of South Brunswick with the opening of Interchange 8A. Today, the land between the turnpike and Route 130 is mainly the location of warehouses.
Choosing South Brunswick homes for sale provides residents with a number of recreational opportunities. Residents and visitors enjoy the Middlesex County Fair held each August. This seven-day event includes all types of festivities, entertainment and food for families throughout this area as well as many other parts of the state. There are several parks located nearby and areas where canoeing, kayaking, camping and various other water activities may be enjoyed.
There are many other festivals and activities held throughout the year – both in South Brunswick and in neighboring communities. North Brunswick hosts the Carnevale Italiano each year and has become an important event within the area. A celebration by the Italian-American community of many Middlesex County towns, one of the highlights of the event is fireworks.
